I chose to go to a Polish Student Alliance (PSA) meeting because I am of polish descent and I hope to pick up a few more words as I continue to go to these meetings/events. I have been learning polish for a few months every summer when I am not in school. In addition to polish, I'm also learning Croatian, and Spanish through Loyola. Polish is most important to me become I want to become fluent before my grandparents pass. Before the meeting, I met up with my brother and another friend of polish background and we proceeded to the meeting. Knowing someone going into the meeting made me feel much more comfortable going in. I thought this would be a good way to meet other people who share a part in my culture. During the meeting, we separated into two groups. On one side of the room there were upper class man and on the other, freshman. At this point, I was separated from my brother and friend; however, I met new people and get lunch with them everyday. I was glad I went to this meeting and got involved when I did because I never would've met these people. I think I really fit into this club and can't wait to help with the paczki sale. This experience has taught me that I get along with people of similar backgrounds. I will continue to go to these meetings and events as well as join other organizations in order to get more involved in my community.
